Lasik surgery is a common refractive surgery that is common because of it's quick and painless procedure. The surgery itself is usually less than five minutes. The surgery involves using a laser to cut a flap in the cornea. The shape of the cornea affects the way a patient will see and lasik surgery is a processs by which we can resahpe the cornea. Once the flap is open the cornea is then reshaped by cutting off small pieces. Once the cornea is reshaped and optimal vision is achieved the flap is then placed back.

Before a patient can take part in a lasik procedure that person must first be evaluated to see if they are a candidate for lasik. Myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism errors may be corrected using lasik procedures.
